Middle Tennessee's Aislynn Hayes Achieves National Honors
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. ? As the 2019-20 basketball season concluded abruptly due to the pandemic, many teams were left contemplating their potential. However, Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) looks forward to the upcoming 2020-21 season with optimism, having finished the previous season with a solid 13-5 record and strong momentum heading into the Conference USA tournament, which was unfortunately canceled. MTSU coach Rick Insell believes that the team had a great chance to succeed in the tournament.
The Blue Raiders return with a promising roster, featuring standout sisters Aislynn and Anastasia Hayes, both of whom have garnered numerous accolades. Aislynn was named to the Her Hoops Freshman Fab 15 All-American team, becoming just the second Blue Raider to earn such recognition as a freshman. Meanwhile, Anastasia, a transfer from the University of Tennessee, excelled in her first season at MTSU, finishing second in scoring within the conference. Insell is enthusiastic about the potential of both players and the team's prospects for the upcoming season.
